BEET-TOX
This recipe comes from a combination of a local Encinitas restaurants cocktail, and a friend of mines creation and then my own health additions! You can always make anything have a healthy twist, especially when it comes to your liver and alcohol.
Beets: Most of you already know that beets are an extremely nutrient dense food that happens to be delicious... Or you are the opposite and think it tastes like dirt. ;) Beets are a natural body cleanser and detoxify the body. They are a tonic for the liver, purify our blood, lowering blood pressure, helps with skin issues, anemia, constipation, indigestion, just to name a few common ones. If you don't like to eat beets, maybe you will enjoy them in your cocktail, do it for your liver!
Instructions:
Using a juicer, extract juice from 4-6 medium red beets, 1 large ginger piece (no need to peel), lemons and 2 medium cucumbers.
For cocktail pour the following into a glass of ice.
- 1.5 ounce Vodka or Gin
- 2 ounce beet juice
- splash of fresh ginger juice
- 12 ounce lemon juice
- 1 ounce cucumber juice
- Soda water to top
- simple syrup or stevia (optional)
- Ice
